Pablo de Sarasate was not only a great violinplayer but a composer as well and because of that it´s quite logic that the violin plays an important role in his work. The 'Carmen Fantasy' , together with ' Zigeunerweisen' , is probably his best known piece. In this composition de Sarasate uses the material of Bizet's Carmen in an excellent way.
