Jose Serrano's zarzuela La Cancion del olvido was first performed in 1916 in Valencia and until now it belongs to one of the most succesful zarzueala's in history.La Cancion del olvido has a Napoleonic setting, but its ambience is more reminiscent of sophisticated Italian renaissance comedy. The heroin in the story is Rosina. She sings at the end of the first scene the beautiful aria La Cancion de Marinela.
