Description:
This work by Patrick Hawes for SSA choir, Harp and String Quintet was inspired by the legend of The Angel of Mons. This is the full score. The legend claims that an angel appeared before members of the British Army at the Battle of Mons in World War 1, supposedly protecting them from the enemy. This work is dedicated to the memory of all the British soldiers who witnessed the apparition of the angel. The Angel Of Mons was premiered in its SATB choir version on 23 August 2014 in St Michael & All Angels Church, Edenham, Lincolnshire and conducted by the composer Patrick Hawes on the exact centenary of the apparition of the angel.
