The relationship to painting is an essential element of my music: Pluie-Vapeur-Vitesse (Rain-Steam-Speed) is the title of a painting by William Turner that was the subject of an article I wrote for the Télérama magazine supplement about the Turner-Whistler exhibit at the Orsay Museum.I wanted to expand on this propos by composing a piece for ensemble.Here is an extract: 'An offshoot to this railroad can be connected with the idea of 'trajectory' in an instrumental work, inseparable from the instrumental gesture. Both one and the other contribute to accentuating the sensation of movement, as designated by the term 'speed'.Edith Canat de Chizy
