Description:
Composed in 1680, Dieterich Buxtehude's “Membra Jesu Nostri” is one of the most moving and meditative masterpieces of Baroque sacred music. Across seven intimate cantatas, this Passion cycle contemplates the wounds and limbs of the crucified Christ, unfolding an incomparably profound and spiritual soundscape. Scored for vocal soloists (SSATB), five-part mixed choir, strings, and basso continuo (in Latin and German), the work remains a timeless jewel of sacred literature. This high-quality edition from Edition Merseburger provides the separate instrumental part for Cello, Basso Continuo, and Violone. Offering clear and legible music engraving, it serves as the essential harmonic and expressive foundation for any performance during Passiontide.
