EUNOIA, made up of the particles eu and noia which mean 'beautiful' and 'thinking', describes, in rhetoric, the goodwill a speaker elicits from listeners. This word which contains all five vowels is the name given to a young ensemble from Basle which consists of 4 instrumentalists from different instrument sections and a soprano, and it is the title of Mike Svoboda's 'Ballade' which was created on commission of the ensemble on 2014. A joyful and intelligent discourse on the art of communication according to the slightly modified motto: 'it is not what you play but how you play it'.
