Mein Bläserquintett berührt Zitate der Vergangenheit: im ersten Satz ein Thema aus der 2. Szene/1. Akt 'Lohengrin' und am Ende des letzten Satzes das erste Präludium aus dem Wohltemperierten Klavier. Die gesamte Harmonik des Quintettes spektral - beruht auf reinen Intervallen, die allerdings im Rahmen einer ,seriellen Tonalität' in Konflikte gebracht werden. Grundthema ist das immer weitere Entfernen voneinander. Die einzelnen Sätze stellen Versuche dar, die Entwicklung aufzuhalten, sie vielleicht sogar umzukehren. Tatsächlich bleibt nichts stehen, wiederholt sich nichts. Die beiden Intermezzi (2. und 4. Satz) sind eigentlich ein einziges, von einem als ,Sphinx' bezeichneten Satz unterbrochenes Stück. Das Adagio löst sich in Bewegung auf, das Presto schliesslich erstarrt. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - My Woodwind Quintet includes quotations from the past. In the first movement there is a theme from Act I Scene II of 'Lohengrin,' and the first Prelude from the Well-Tempered Clavier appears at the end of the last movement. The overall harmonic language of the Quintet is spectral - it uses pure intervals which, however, are brought into conflict with a framework of 'serial tonality.' The basic theme is the ever increasing distance from each other. The individual movements are attempts at halting the development, perhaps even turning it around in the opposite direction. Certainly nothing stands still, nothing repeats itself. The two Intermezzi (2nd and 4th movements) are actually a single movement interrupted by another movement designated as 'Sphinx.' The Adagio is transformed into movement; the Presto finally freezes.
