Description:
It was around 1870 when the young Puccini was serving at the church of Lucca as a titular organist and in his first manuscripts there are marches, sonnets and sonatas for the mass. In those days it was in vogue, at the end of the liturgy, to perform a march to make the final of the rite joyful. The registers of the organ and the "Banda di Luca" were his inspiration for composing these marches. Only in 2017 a series of manuscripts written at that time and never catalogued were found. Italian arranger Matteo Firmi arranged three of these marches by Giacomo Puccini for a Wind Ensemble.
