Description:
Arnulf Herrmann's sweet little matrix is an 11-minute work for string quartet. In the middle of the movement, eight Beethoven bars appear, very close to the original but not as a quotation or exact copy; rather, they are overlaid by a delicate rhythmic structure, a matrix, a background projected onto the bars, which slightly distorts the Beethoven bars themselves in this seeming quotation. sweet little matrix was premiered for the Beethoven Year by members of the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie in Saarbrücken on 18 March 2020. This new edition (EP14479) contains the score and parts of the work.
