La Llorona

Immerse yourself in the moving soundscapes of Mexico: With this poignant choral edition of the traditional Mexican folk song 'La Llorona' from the renowned Jon Washburn Choral Series (G. Schirmer), you add an unforgettable highlight to your concert repertoire. This evocative arrangement for mixed choir (SATB) and piano (or optional harp) captivates with its deeply heartfelt emotionality. The altos carry much of the expressive melody, supported by a strumming, rhythmically flowing accompaniment. Glistening women's glissandi and a soaring soprano solo descant lend the piece a magical, nearly transcendent atmosphere. Sung in the original Spanish, this choral work unfolds an incomparable expressive power—a deeply moving experience for both choir and audience alike.
