In December, 2014, my nine-year-old granddaughter, Charlotte, showed me 'Winter Snow, ' a poemthat she had written as a school assignment. I was taken by the text: by its imagery, rhythm, andassonance. Charlotte gave me permission to set her words to music. I hope this piece doesjustice to her beautiful poem. ' -Robert Applebaum This 'winter painting' begins with unison chorus and ends with two-part chorus. The voices are supported by a gentle piano accompaniment, mostly in eighth note motion, decorated with occasional mordents. Duration: 2:42
