Description:
The main section starts with a written piano Latin vamp pattern. The theme, stated by octave brass,is a 24-bar blues. The solo section is followed by ensemble development of unison and octave lines, a brief sax soli and drum solo section.The rhythm section style is straight-8th swing drums over a Latin bass pattern. The lengthy (2-1/2 minute) 'Prologue' section is a rubato dramatic tone poem and may be used as a separate orchestral[styled composition, or as an intro to this or any other piece. Solos: changes for alto (or soprano),tenor,bari,trpt,trbn,WW dbls:2 sets of WW parts (flutes only used o9n 'Prologue'). Opt'l parts for French horns, tuba, Latin & mallet percussion.
