Description:
The Syndicate is a medium swing tune featuring improvised solos for second trombone and guitar. A dark and moody introduction leads into a tuneful melody played by trumpet, trombone, and guitar. Muted brass backgrounds behind the trombone solo progress into the guitar solo followed by a powerful shout chorus. This composition was commissioned by the University of Houston Moores School of Music specifically for a concert featuring Conrad Herwig. First alto saxophone doubles on flute and baritone saxophone doubles on bass clarinet. Top0 note for lead trumpet is a written E3, and top note for lead trombone is a written B2.
