'Tailor-Made,' sounding minor in nature, is based on the Dorian mode of the major scale. Its solo section provides opportunity for more advanced soloists to progress through the changes or equally effective, can be navigated more easily with exclusive use of the C Dorian scale. The shout chorus features juxtaposed measures without the rhythm section against measures with the full ensemble. Following the shout, your drummer is given a chance to shine as the drums trade solo measures with the full ensemble. Scored for full big band, it may also be played with limited instrumentation.
