Description:
An intermediate level big band arrangement. Scored for five saxes (AATTB), four trumpets, three tenor trombones, one bass trombone, piano, electric guitar, electric bass and drums. The trumpet range goes up to the G just above the staff, but in one section the lead can be taken up an octave if you have a capable player. This is a great rock/funk style chart. It opens with a funky bass solo followed by a laid-back theme played by unison altos and trumpets. Contrapuntal themes build to a strong rocking ensemble, followed by a simple four bar vamp section where soloists can really stretch out. This piece was recorded by the Cal State University Northridge A jazz band for Music Minus One records and is available on a CD entitled Studio City. Medium.
