Composed by Woody James Arranged by Dave Leech. An advanced pro level big band arrangement. Scored for five saxes (SATTB), six trumpets, five trombones, piano, guitar, bass, drums and Latin percussion. The first trumpet range goes up to a high G. A lively and exciting jazz samba, the tune appeared first on Woody Jamesalbum Jazz Crystallizations. This arrangement was commissioned by Los Angeles City College for their Studio Jazz Band, and also recorded by them. It features a duo of trumpet and tenor sax playing the melody, with each blowing a couple of jazz choruses. Then things are topped off with a very challenging ensemble chorus. Although written for six trumpets (soloist plus five section players) it can be played effectively with five. The first sax part is a Bb soprano. Playing time is approximately six minutes.
