Description:
A medium swing piece employing some 12-tone melodic and harmonic techniques, but based on the standard tune 'Out of Nowhere'. Soloists (trumpet or trombone and soprano or tenor) should be comfortable going somewhat 'outside' on this. Lead trumpet to written D, lead trombone to Db. A cooled down shout chorus with tricky sax unison lines comes before the recapitulation. Soprano sax double. As recorded by the John Mahoney Big Band on 'In From Somewhere'.
