Description:
This is is a medium up-tempo (190=BPM) New York four-on-the- floor shuffle. First recorded in 1987 by Bob Berg and his combo, it has become a contemporary standard played all over the world and recorded by many jazz greats. It is a 12-bar blues that was expanded to a 24-bar blues progression with lots of chord substitutions. I have arranged this chart to feature the tenor sax. The melody is very challenging and it has a great sax soli. Also, there is a solo for the piano. It would be in the best interest of the chart to use some type of electronic keyboard or maybe even organ. Electric bass should be used instead of the string bass and it would be great to have an electric guitarist. Solos can be expanded to other players if so desired.Instrumentation: 2trpts, 1trbn, 1alto, 1tenor, 1 bari, guitar, piano (electric or fender), electric bass, and drums.Lead trumpet is a written A flat a minor 13th above middle C - or an octave and minor 6th.
