Comp by Bill Evans arr by Curt. Fieve is an earlier Bill Evans tune based on 'rhythm' changes. The tune (and the arrangement) is a study in tuplets, especially five quarter notes over four. The head includes mixed meters, but blowing sections are in 4/4. Solos include piano, a section where several trombones play overlapping 'sixes,' and then an extended bone solo. There is plenty of intricate ensemble work. This arrangement will require extensive rehearsal for anyone who tackles it. Scored for 5 tenor bones, 1 bass bone, and rhythm.
