Description:
Lenguas Muertas (Dead Languages) expresses the idea that the drumheads and membranes of the instruments speak and recover four 'dead languages': Hittite, Akkadian, Etruscan and Gothic. They are four languages transcribed in a showcase of complex rhythms, generating a discourse full of energy and occasionally obsession. The four lan-guages give rise to four contrasting sections.
Each fragment is a sonorous metaphor for each language's morphology and culture.
All these sections gain coherence and unity thanks to two elements present throughout the work: the rhythmic grouping made up of the 5-6-7 (with all the possible variations) and a small rhythmic cell that mutates according to the language we are dealing with.
